I am jumping up and down right now...

No joke. I need you all to comment and tell me how excited you are for me to go to SUGAR SALEM High School! (for student teaching in January) I am still in Mexico, and I have been jumping around camp all night! More posts to come from beautiful, sunny Hermasillo, but I just wanted to let you all know that I am SO EXCITED!

P.S. Not only do I love Sugar City, but it is close to home! (they could have sent me to Pocatello, which would mean a two hour commute EVERY day, so I am so happy right now!) Also, I won't be teaching P.E., just health, but that's cool with me.

WAHOO!

Mexico, Day 1&2

Yesterday, we drove... and drove... and this is one of the two highlights. We stopped at a lookout point right below the Glen Canyon Dam. It was SO beautiful. The next highlight was eating at In-n-Out which I have decided is my new favorite fast food place.

Blast not having one in Utah or Idaho.
Then today we got to Hermasillo! (not Guaymus like previously mentioned, sorry) I love Mexico!

NOVA

This kind of goes along with my last post... sorry. Growing up, we watched a lot of public television and I have always LOVED NOVA. Now, I have a new reason to love them again. They have a site for Teachers! They divide their shows into subjects, and then when you click on the program you can watch it online as well as get some ideas to go along with it. There is some mighty interesting ones about health. If you haven't watched NOVA before, I suggest you start now. Its the bomb.com

Teacher Mode

So, I found out for sure the other day that I will be student teaching in January, and I am totally scared/excited. For those that don't know, I am majoring in Health Ed with a minor in PE. (I'm hoping to be able to help coach track as well)

On to the point though... I was working ALL day on Saturday making a bulletin board for my teaching methods class and when I went to the Dollar Tree to get some extra stuff for it, I found my new best friend. His name is Marco.
That is when I knew I was totally into teaching. When I noticed this, and my first thought was "AWESOME!!! This is the greatest thing ever! How could I use this in my class?" It was really sad, and the sadder part is that I was playing with him all weekend, and I think I have mastered the art of getting the liver and stomach to sit just perfectly above the intestines.

Anyways... just wanted to let you all know that I am losing my mind. BUT on the bright side, I have found TONS of sites that will send you free stuff for teaching, so this is for all of you health educators out there:

http://nmhicstore.samhsa.gov/publications/ordering.aspx (this has a bunch of random stuff, mostly drug use/abuse stuff)
http://catalog.niddk.nih.gov/ (this was AMAZING for diabetes, digestive diseases and kidney diseases, sooo much information)
http://backtoschool.drugabuse.gov/ (this has some great stuff for a unit on drug use)

National Institute of Health (I haven't actually gotten the stuff from them yet, but I heard that it is really inclusive. They are curriculum sets on a bunch of different subjects)

teachfree.org (has some good stuff for a nutrition unit)

And if you live in Idaho, Idaho Dairy Council is great as well for nutrition. My friend got her stuff from them yesterday, and she said she got three boxes of it. I am still anxiously awaiting mine (getting free stuff is like Christmas)

Carino Mondays... Awwww ya

We have a Johnny Carino's in Idaho Falls, and they have some SWEET deals on Monday nights, so we have been making a weekly trek down there for some awesome food. If you have a Carino's around, you should see if they do a family night special, because Matt and I both eat for like 14 bucks. And yes, this is four of us in the backseat... I love how high school that felt to me. All I know, is we have the COOLEST friends.

Shoot 'em up

Yep, we went shooting today with our friends the Sumpters and Matt Cziep. I have to admit that I didn't know until today that I am a little afraid of guns. I got over it when a bullet ricocheted off the target and hit my hand, because then I realized that I am made of steel, and bullets bounce off me and onto the ground. Thats right bullets, do your worst, I am KriSTEEL. This is where the bullet hit me, and this is the bullet, I am saving it forever.

I also was having fun taking TONS of pictures. I am a sucker for the sun going down, what can I say? I also have a large crush on lens flare.

Bring back that lovin' feelin!

Is that song that Matt sang to me last night at the ward party, it was awesome. There was karoke at the end (which I am pretty obsessed with) and I had to sing, just so that I could take a picture of it, and blog about it. That is the sort of person I have become. I only do things so that I can have things to say on my blog. But I sang 'Oops! I did it again'. I also had one of those 'ah-ha' moments last night when I realized that we were allowed to stay in the church after the party with no adults... because we were the adults. Wild.

Maybe I never grew out of it:

Drinking from a bottle. Maybe that is why I am incredibly addicted to Propel bottles. I take it with me everywhere, and I'm dying everyday that I forget to take it to school. I used to never remember to bring a water bottle with me, and even then I would usually forget it was in my bag. But I just love the top and so I am constantly drinking, I went through two bottles full today in a single class. So, if you too are suffering from dehydration, see if propel bottles are right for you.

The funny thing is that I don't even like propel, I just drink it down really fast so I can fill my new bottle with water.

Please Watch:

You and your kids might be in danger.

Bucket List #1

So, for some reason, I just started thinking about making one. So here is my first goal. (many more to follow)

I am going to visit 50 countries before I am 50. Thats not too crazy right? I mean, I have thirty years! Here are my top five countries to visit:

1. South Africa
2. China
3. France
4. Japan
5. India

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

I just can't wait

I love Mexico. And I am psyched to go back for Thanskgiving! Just thought I would post a few pictures from last year to make you all a little jealous. This year we are going to Guaymas, which is a little closer to the coast than last time in Hermasillo. I didn't post very much about our last trip but I will this time!

The first one is me with some of the kids from the women and childrens center, and the next one is our group in front of the unfinished house.

Also, I am so excited for the awesome carne asada! Taco stands make my life complete.

Cramping my style

Warning: This post is about women problems

I am cramping like mad. I always forget how bad it hurts until it comes back. Being a woman is awesome, I love it, but I HATE periods. The only way to ease my pain is to lay on the couch, watch Anne of Green Gables(scientifically proven to reduce menstrual pain) hook myself to a hot pad and eat some ice cream. If I am doing anything else I am miserable. Is this everyone else too? What do you guys do for cramps? (I don't want to hear exercise! That is supposed to work, but it makes me totally nauseous)

Also on the same note, Matt tells me almost everyday that I am in a weird mood. Well, thinking about it, I have decided that it is no wonder that girls are an emotional wreck. We have four different hormones that are released in different levels and combinations EVERY day of our cycle. That is a lot of hormones to adjust to. It seems to me that by the time we finally get used to the 28 or so different levels of hormones, we go through menopause. I mean really, look at this chart, all the different colors make it look extremely crazy. I have decided that this is why girls are slightly less crazy as they age, their body knows how to handle this better.

iPods

Every time I see an ad for the new iPods, I want one, and I start thinking about what color I want, then I think about it more and realize that I don't want an iPod. I just want this beautiful rainbow of colors to look at.

Tagged

Is it really sad that I feel popular because I was tagged twice? Both were like two weeks ago, but it had taken me that long to think of the 7 quirkiest/weird things about me (too many to chose from)which is one of the things I was tagged in, thanks Stephanie! (Sorry Julie, I didn't do your tag cuz I'm just not interesting enough to fill out one that long. Here I GO!
1. I LOVE made beds, I don't always make mine in the morning, but sometimes I make it right before bed, just so I can climb into it. That is my favorite part of hotels, they make the bed for you! I have to resist the urge to climb in the bed and lay there just because it is made. P.S. just a piece of Carter history, this is the room that we stayed at on our wedding night, cool room huh? I loved it.

2. I am a horrible hoarder. Yes, I confess. I got it from my mom. Lately, my new hobby has been collecting free teaching supplies from different places. I have gotten two packages this week full of handouts and posters for my class. (for those of you that don't know, I am getting ready to do my student teaching in January) It's a little sad how excited about them I am. I can just see my children, 50 years from now going through my stuff and saying "what the heck is all this?!? Why does she have TWO posters of the food pyramid? They don't even use this anymore!" It will be awesome. And also, I have two because one of them is in Spanish, back off okay?
3. I am terrified of public restrooms, and not because of germs. I am deathly afraid that someone in the next stall is going to reach under and cut my Achilles tendon and kill me. If I am alone in the bathroom, then I walk past every stall and open the doors, and then go in the last one. Its a disorder really, lavatory phobia.
4. I never want to go to Disneyland. I'm pretty sure the Carter's are one day going to force me to go, but for now, I like to say that I am Disneyland Free! Is it weird that I need something like that to feel unique?
5. I love stupid cheesy movies. Some of my favorites are From Justin to Kelly, Popstar and Aquamarine.
6. I did not (contrary to popular opinion) play volleyball or basketball. I am a six foot tall female, and I wasted my height okay? Conversations go a lot like this:
Stranger: did you play basketball in high school?
Me: no, I didn't
Stranger: (somewhat confused looking) well, did you play volleyball?
Me: no, did you play minature golf? (okay, so I don't actually say that, But I really wish I had the guts to.)
7. I am unnaturally afraid of the telephone. I don't like answering it, and I almost always will refuse to call people. (I will call my own family, but sometimes I am even too scared to call my mother-in-law) Matt makes fun of me a lot, but I hate phones! And if you call me and I don't recognize your number, I will not pick up, so leave a message and I will get back to you when I can.
So, this is just scratching the surface really. I am pretty weird. I don't know how many people are really into the tag thing, so I won't be offended if you don't do it. But here are the 7 people I am tagging: Julie (Mangino and Call), Carlie, Tiffany, Olivia, Robin and Heidi. And this is assuming that all these people read my blog. Ha.

Clue Continued

So here are the pictures of us all dressed up. I love the girls in the wellness center, we have tons of fun. But I didn't have too much time to make mine, so no laughing.
