Bosnia and Herzegovina

Kristal told me to blog a long time ago, so finally I found something that I could write about.

So we're planning on going to Europe this May and we are SUPER excited. In my excitement, I started looking at cool places to go. I thought it would be sweet to go to Greece, but then as I was looking at a map, the only ways to get there go through either Bosnia or Serbia, both of which don't sound like the safest places to be traveling. So I decided to do some research. And it turns out that Bosnia is INCREDIBLY safe! I mean, just look at this quote from the Bosnia and Herzegovina tourism home page.

"Apart from the mines, Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the safest places in Europe."

See?? One of the safest places in Europe! Apparently I was mistaken.

Washington Trail

We got to Washington on Monday... supposed to be Saturday... but this got in our way.My camera battery was dead the whole way, but this is what it looked like. This was actually the worst pass. We got through all the scary passes and what should happen but a happy flat tire? It was so cold changing that baby but luckily cha-cha and Russell were able to direct us to the Les Schwab in Hermaston Oregon. I had to laugh at the similarities in my day and Olivia's day on Monday. We chilled at the tire store for about two hours, then went to Walmart for about an hour then went to a chinese buffet where my fortune was 'plan for some unanticipated events' Go figure. After about four hours, we got our car and made it to Yakima! Our ten hour drive turned into an odyssey. But we got here safely and are currently serving as butler and chiefs to the Carlson's.

Intervention(inc)

I have just been informed that I add a 'k' to my -ing words. This is the first I have ever heard of this. Apparently most Utahn's do this as well! Tell me people, is it really that obvious? I am so confused... I feel like my whole life was a lie! So tonight, Emily, Russell and Matt had me read sentences like 'I like to go running in the woods' and they would write down if they heard my accent. That was my first intervention... and living with the Carter family means it probably won't be my last.

Pimp my... Bed?

So seriously check out this bed! It's the craziest thing I have seen in awhile... and I live in Rexburg. The coolest thing about it is that it doubles as a bomb shelter. All I know is that it is perfect for my jr. high science teacher Mr. Kennedy who was all about bomb shelters. This bed has BLUE PRINTS. No joke, check it.
All this can be yours for only 120,000$

Christmas with the Craniums

In light of my most recent post... I thought it was a perfect time to introduce the Craniums. Last year before we left for Christmas, we got the most mysterious Christmas card from a very interesting family by the name of Cranium. It was pretty ridiculous, and it was written by Annie. On the way down to Mexico, Matt and I got pretty bored, so we started to make a picture to include in this years Christmas card. We used a family picture from the Carter's (more variety with the babies) and we swapped out the heads with pictures of Annie. It kept us entertained for a couple hours...
I have to confess that Matt did most of the Photoshop effects, and we laughed our heads off the whole time. (No pun intended) We got a little carried away and made some more individual pictures for Annie... Man I love photoshop!

Sorry Emily, Russell and Olivia... I hope you don't mind me borrowing your pictures... they just happened to be on my computer:)

Lets hope not

I was looking at my sister-in-law Olivia's blog, and she had the AWESOMEST thing ever! Apparently VW has a baby maker on their site, and so I did it, and lets just hope that mine and Matt's babies do NOT look like this, he looks like he is about to eat Matt! Anyways, just something fun to do. The problem is I don't have hardly any pictures by myself since Matt and I got married and I had to pull this one from my high school pictures. So without further ado, I introduce you to Matthew Aaron Carter: (I named him just for you Annie!)

More Pictures...

just because we took so many, and they are so beautiful!

Also, just a side note, the woman jumping out of the picture above is my new friend TraceCe. And, I have discovered my new favorite way to take pictures, and it's through sun glasses! It's kindof a ghetto lens, for non-slr cameras, but I think it looks cool! Here are a couple I took with this highly advance technique:

Thanksgiving Day

I spent Thanksgiving day chilling on the beautiful San Carlos beach, while we may not have had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, it was still delicious, and I got to wake up to this.

Other Notes from Mexico

Louis (guy we built the house for) had the coolest talent ever! When we got to the house the first day, he asked us who the youngest was, and when Matt told him Vanessa, Louis fashioned the picture fram holder to the left in like ten minutes! It was so cool! You can't see from the picture, but it has a dolphin behind her name. Matt and I also got one of these awesome picture holders, so cool!

I'm pretty sure if I thought I could have gotten away with it, I would have stolen this baby. He belonged to the nieghbors, and he was cuter than any baby has a right to be.

I just thought this tree at the Heramasillo Temple was awesome!

the Casa

So, I have had a couple (and by a couple, I mean Vanessa) requests for more pictures from Mexico! I thought you all might like to see what kind of house 14 people can build in 3 days! It was a really awesome experience, and I am SOOO glad Matt and I got to go again. It really is amazing how much we take for granted.

We worked really hard to get the house built in time, but without a plumber it took us longer than planned. We were all a little bummed that we had to give up half of our day at the beach finishing some stuff Thanksgiving morning, but it was all worth it when, as we were leaving, Louis Jr. (who was two) starting crying/pleading and saying 'no se va Vanessa' (don't go Vanessa, Vanessa is my youngest sister), then Louis Sr. (the man we built the house for) started to cry too. Needless to say we all had a little something in our eyes as we drove away. We weren't so concerned with the beach anymore.

It was really a life changing experience
