the first grandbaby

I was always curious to see how my family would respond to their first grandchild/niece/nephew, and it's been... interesting.

The other day I was standing by Annie and I leaned in to tell her a secret. She jumped away from me and screamed 'you touched me with your baby!'. Today she put her hands on my belly to feel the baby kick, then, when baby delivered, Annie jerked her hands away and said 'GROSS! She feels like an alien!'

I was getting some cream cheese frosting out of the fridge. I wasn't planning on eating it straight (I'm sure I would have found something to put it on), and Shane wordlessly took it out of my hands and put it back in the fridge. If he had his way, his niece would be raised in a womb that was fed only with organic food.

My brother Jeff sent me one of his famous one line emails the other day, it said 'so... this is awkward... I still think I should be able to name your child. I mean, it only makes sense'.

I haven't taken any 'belly' pictures for awhile (and I know I'm going to regret it later), so I'll just share this nice one of Matt and I.
