Olive Garden, Spoons, and Vegetables

Matt and I went to the Olive Garden last night, it was delectable! It is my utimate weakness. I always order the fettucini alfredo, and last night our waitor asked me if I wanted the chicken alfredo, and I didn't and he seemed really annoyed that I just wanted plain fettucini because he then asked me if I would like to add brocilli to it for an extra charge. What kind of question is that? Why anyone would add veggies to their dinner is beyond me, it sounds more like a punishment for a kid("If you do that I'll make you eat extra brocilli!" hehe), not something that I want to pay extra for! I think they should give me a discount to add that brocilli! Gosh, crazy guy...

But I have a story about Olive Garden that relates to the picture of the spoon. When I first met Matt's mom April, she took us to the Olive Garden. I always order the fettucini alfredo(I'm pretty boring taste wise) and I am eating just like I always eat it (with a spoon duh) and April says something to me(not mean in any way, just curiuos) about me eating pasta with a spoon. Ya, I felt like an idiot. All those etiquette dinners in YW failed me greatly. I have been eating that dumb pasta with a spoon even since I was taught the order that you use your untensils, unless they serve the plate with a different utensil! Then you are supposed to use that. So, I am a frequent vistor of the Olive Garden and I must say that I have mastered eating pasta with a spoon, just as it is served. My mom had seen me do this, Matt had seen me do this and countless other people and they had all failed to tell me, so on the night that I am meeting my boyfriends mom, I can look like a fool. April then told me that Italians use it as a backstop(for lack of better word) so they can twirl their pasta around a fork. Luckily, April is really chill! So hopefully she didn't think I was too much of a heathen(although Matt has informed me that I probably won't know what his family first thought of me for a few more years...dang)

So the moral of this story is... don't go to etiquette classes... they will make you look like even bigger of a fool.

Gosh SO MANY THINGS to comment on in this post...

First of all, you are crazy girl! Adding veggies to food is a punishment?!? You for real don't like the taste of veggies? hahaha! Oh man!

Secondly, I have to watch you eat your pasta with a spoon- I've never heard of such a thing! I think I'd make a big mess- instead of being shocked I'd be impressed!

Lastly, it's true... around year 2 or 3 the Carters will tell you what they really thought of you. I found out that Scott called April & Bob to say he met this great girl that he might be in love with because "she's a dirt-ball". I know I'm laid back but a dirt-ball? Dang that handsome husband of mine! So, that's the first thing they thought of me.

Kristal this is your mother, I and I have told you that you eat pasta wrong and have even explained why they serve it with a spoon. You as a typical teenager ignored me and assumed that I didn't know what I was talking about and have pusthed this memory into your subconsious (I hope I spelled that right)
