I've been trying to learn some new stuff in photoshop, and I have been seeing tons of pictures lately with textures, so I've been playing around. I *like* them (better when other people do them, and only for specific pictures), but I don't think I will use them for portraits unless I can find a texture that doesn't make a persons skin look like sand paper, or I can find a way to smooth the texture out over the skin. I've seen it done, so I know it's possible... I just can't figure it out.
What do you think?

I love textures. I haven't yet learned to do them but I like them on certain pictures like you said. That one looks AMAZING!
ok, so many questions and hopefully a little insight :) first off, LOVE the pic. second, where did you get that font...also love. third i love the texture itself, where did you get it? you know you can make your own? i have wanted to do that for a while but never gotten around to it.
and in an answer to your question, you can just select the eraser tool and erase the skin on the textured layer. i hope that helps. i also like textures but only on the right pics.
peace
