Let them eat Cake

Can I just say, Marie Antoinette was my kind of lady. Well, you know, besides ignoring all the starving, dying, pre-revolutionary Frenchmen. We went to Versailles yesterday and her 'domain' was amazing. Seriously, she gets a bad wrap for building a little 'play village' for herself, but someone builds the Louvre and Versailles and no one questions their vanity? I think those buildings are both a little more excessive than a few peasant cottages, don't cha think?

Anyways, her area is where we spent most of the time, and while the rest of the Chateau Versailles and the gardens were beautiful(and ENORMOUS), I thought her gardens and smaller 'party/concert' buildings felt much more intimate and much less gaudy.

(the main Chateau and gardens, with the 'grand canal' back there, maybe you are smarter than me and already knew that some of the kings used to stage naval battles in there.)

This is Sacré Cœur (obviously
at night). On our way to see this, we stopped for some crepes. We saw a mouse running around on the floor. I then saw said mouse climbing through a hole in the wall that looked like it was specifically built into the paneling for him. When I mentioned this to Matt, he suggested that they let the mice come in to keep the place clean. 'Au contraire' I said, very Parisian-like.

so fun and I am sooo jealous. And just to defend maria antionette. The let them eat cake thing was not said in austerity it was said in ignorance. She really thought well give them some of our cake she wasn't mocking she may have had real concern but because of her simple mindedness and immaturity she didn't know how to go about it and probably had all the cake she could eat so 'let them eat cake' anyway look it up I had to write a HUGE report about her in some class and find her to be a very fascinating women if not stuck in unfortunate circumstances.

I loved her little village! I want Mom and Dad to build one like it in there side yard. Hey, maybe the mouse was the one from Ratatouille and he actually made your crepes for you!
