My Bed

Back in March, I had my dad helped me build built me a bed. I waited to blog about it because I wanted better pictures than our then apartment in the basement could provide (horrible light), but I've been trying to get better about blogging... and I had technical difficulties with the post I wanted to do today, so here's my bed. 

I'm rather in love with it. I'm amazed how much more cozy a headboard makes a bed feel. This is the first time in our marriage that I have actually 'decorated'. I didn't get to finish because we moved, but I'm excited to add these(they are finished but never got hung) I can't wait to finish putting our bedroom together back up at Beale!

Ahhh, the 'pre-mobile' days. I wouldn't leave her like that for a second now. Natalie is fearless.

My dad really knows what he's doing and he did an amazing job, helping me get just what I wanted based on these plans. He wouldn't follow them because no woman was going to tell him how to build (through no fault of her gender, my dad's bed turned out much more sturdy than these plans because they are made for people with limited tools. I love her blog and fully anticipate using more of Ana White's plans in the future when access to a wood shop will be limited. Luckily, my father-in-law is also an excellent builder and I'm hoping he can teach Matt now that we'll live closer to them.
